Evening event exploring the Claylands Landscape in South Norfolk
Straddling the border between south Norfolk and Suffolk, the Claylands is a remarkable landscape forged through the interaction of glaciers, rivers, biodiversity and centuries of human history. Despite twentieth century intensification, the Claylands has retained much of its historic and biological character and is the focus of a collaborative conservation project led by NWT. Joining NWT Ambassador Nick Acheson to bring the Claylands to life are Tom Williamson, Professor of Landscape History at the University of East Anglia, Patrick Barkham, author and NWT President who is working on a biography of Claylands resident Roger Deakin, and Helen Baczkowska, south Norfolk commons rights holder and Acting Conservation Manager at NWT whose forthcoming book on commons and commoners was shortlisted for the 2021 Nan Shepherd Prize.
