Stunning start for new outdoor festival
A new festival celebrating the great outdoors and the beauty of the north Norfolk coast will be held again next year after a hugely successful first event.
The first Deepdale Outdoor and Wildlife Festival was held on April 20 and April 21.
Crowds flocked to Dalegate Market and Deepdale Backpackers and Camping in Burnham Deepdale on the north Norfolk coast.
The idea of the weekend was to entertain and educate, highlighting the great activities this glorious part of the world has to offer, while preventing damage to its environment which is so important to the fishing, farming and tourism industries.
Jason Borthwick, one of the organisers, said: “With such a successful first year, there is lots to build on for 2014 and into the future."
“It was great to see locals and visitors enjoying the sunshine, the activities and finding out about this beautiful part of the world.”
Organisations including the National Trust, RSPB and Eastern Sea Fisheries educated people about the wildlife of the local area.
A climbing wall, guided walks, orienteering and bird watching tours kept visitors entertained.
Other highlights included archery, organised by Active Norfolk, and the Deepdale Dog Show, organised by Animal Magic Dog Club and the Deepdale Backpackers and Camping team.
Mr Borthwick said there will definitely be a 2014 Deepdale Outdoor and Wildlife Festival.
Dates will be announced in the next couple of months on-line at www.deepdaleoutdoorfestival.co.uk
