The Vagaband - Friday - Deepdale Festival | 28th to 30th September 2018 - Something wicked this way comes ... and it’s The Vagaband! With their very own wickedly unique interpretation of English and American roots music, this endlessly elegant inventive and mutable collective of accomplished musicians are heading to Deepdale to take the Festival by storm.
Headlining our main Brick Barn Stage on the Friday evening, this highly-respected Norwich-based band are a reason to attend the Festival all on their own!
Based around their leader and main songwriter Jose McGill, this eclectic and protean group released their third album ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ earlier in 2018 to great critical acclaim.
Described by Q Magazine as “proof the Devil doesn’t always have the best tunes”, their songs range across and around genres, including Americana, rock, blues, folk and country, while drawing deep on the British Celtic foundations that underpin much of modern roots music.
Ranked as one of the Top 20 New Roots Bands in Europe in 2013, they have gone from strength to strength, sharing stages with the likes of Fairport Convention, The Handsome Family and Dodgy, gracing festivals across the UK and beyond with their presence, including Glastonbury, Wilderness and Bestival.
We are delighted to welcome them to our own Festival stage, and very much hope you’ll join us.

The Vagaband

The Thinking Men - Saturday - Deepdale Festival | 28th to 30th September 2018 - Our Saturday evening headliners on the Brick Barn Stage are the electrifying Thinking Men. Based in Norwich, this five-piece rock band bring a unique, powerful, unpredictable, wholly infectious energy to their live performances. Technically accomplished musically, and drawing on influences as diverse as Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, Donavan and Jack White, their 2017 EP ‘Memento Mori’ is a tour de force of modern, serious rock music. We challenge you to emerge from their show without dancing your shoes off!
Theatrical, edgy, provocative, dramatic, original and utterly brilliant. You must come and see The Thinking Men at Deepdale!

The Thinking Men

The Shackleton Trio - Saturday - Deepdale Festival | 28th to 30th September 2018 - Fresh from taking the main stage at the prestigious Cambridge Folk Festival by storm, we are incredibly delighted to have The Shackleton Trio headline our Orchard Stage on the Saturday evening.
True and natural talents of the folk tradition, their brilliant self-penned material blends seamlessly with their imaginative yet authentic re-workings of traditional folk standards.
The uniquely beautiful songwriting skills of Georgia Shackleton, combined with the vibrant, virtuoso instrumental brilliance of Aaren Bennett, Nic Zuppardi and Georgia’s pure and original folk voice have developed and matured through two wonderful, critically acclaimed albums (The Dog Who Would Not Be Washed and new release Fen, Farm and Deadly Water) into a musical force just as likely to move you to tears as to move you to your feet.
Das Fenster & the Alibis

Man The Lifeboats - Sunday - Deepdale Festival | 28th to 30th September 2018 - Headlining the Orchard Stage on Sunday, and variously described as ‘like a stripped back Bellowhead for cynical city dwellers’, 'with more momentum than the Levellers' and the ‘best thing since Oysterband’, make sure you save some wear in your dancing shoes!
Man the Lifeboats play raucous, upbeat folk music, for those who like a drink with their tunes. This London-based five-piece use an array of instruments to craft songs with big choruses that tell unforgettable stories.
Formed in the wake of a blistering Skinny Lister gig back in 2016, Harvey, Richie, Sam, Dan and David have taken their shared love of straight-up lyrics, pounding bass-lines, lilting mandolin and fiddle melodies and stomping beats and have created a sound that would not be out of place at a party at the end of the world.
With influences including the Pogues, Bellowhead, Tom Waits, Dylan, Springsteen, Frank Turner, Holy Moly & the Crackers, and of course, Chic, it’s no surprise Man The Lifeboats deliver a blistering live experience, tales of lost evenings, ballads of doomed love and shanties about whisky-soaked nights, Michael Palin, and the end of the world.
