VJ Day Celebration

Sunday 15 August 2021
10am - 4pm

As the North Norfolk Coast begins to move out of Covid-19 lockdown, and tourism businesses re-open, more planned events are taking place.  These are just listings, so please follow links and check with organisers of events before assuming events are running.

A celebration of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II (postponed from 2020)

North Wootton Village Hall was intending to hold a VE Day Party on Friday 8th May 2020 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the formal end of fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe. Sadly, this could not happen because of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrcitions that were in place at the time. Now that restrictions are easing and we are cautiously emerging, events can begin going ahead once more and we are delighted to be holding a VJ Day Celebration on Sunday 15th August 2021, 10am – 4pm. There will be food, drink, and live music; a display of wartime objects and artefacts; photos of the village and wartime stories shared by villagers; and village fete style games. We will be encouraging everyone to dress up in their 1940s finery too! Entrance is FREE as is the entertainment, food, and drink. We would very much like this to be a community event for all to enjoy after the past year. The VJ Day Celebration would not be able to go ahead without the dedication of the Village Hall Management Committee and the kind support we have received. This event is supported by Norfolk Community Foundation through Norfolk Armed Forces Covenant and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, as well as North Wootton Parish Council.

Price: FREE

Location: North Wootton Village Hall, Priory Lane, North Wootton, Norfolk, PE30 3PT
