Buildings and Boats Major Exhibition

Wherever Trevor goes on his travels, buildings and boats are always present.

Venice is the most obvious of Trevor's favourite destinations and always provides incredible inspiration, but earlier this year travelling to Amsterdam opened up new subject matters. The buildings with their regimented and brightly-coloured shutters lend themselves perfectly to his style, then throw in some Dutch barges and clearly this is a city that has to feature in this show.

Add in paintings of Sienna and San Gimignano in Tuscany, Collioure in France, Lanzarote, Hastings, London, and Norwich and you have a fantastically eclectic mix of locations, all portrayed in his inimitable style.

Then there's the more leisurely side of life, away from the towns and cities, and that of course means North Norfolk. Blakeney, Morston and, of course, Wells-next-the-Sea will feature multiple times with the sailing boats moored up at the quaysides or along the creeks.

In addition - but still on the same theme – Trevor has added night scenes into the mix. This is something very different, adding a new dimension and moody feel to his work, but they remain instantly recognisable as his.

Trevor Woods is a popular artist based in Wells-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk. He has been painting professionally for over 15 years and, with his wife Jo, owns Gallery Plus where his studio is always open to visitors. His distinctive, graphic style has allowed him to develop the skill of breaking down views into their raw elements: clean lines, flat colours, and dark shadows. Each painting is just as much about what he leaves out as what he includes.

BUILDINGS AND BOATS opens with an all-day preview on Saturday 12th October from 10am–4pm, when Trevor will be present to welcome you with a glass of Prosecco, and continues until Saturday 26th October. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, plus Sundays 13th and 20th October 11am-4pm.
