The Archdeacons Charge

Monday 7 May 2018

As the North Norfolk Coast begins to move out of Covid-19 lockdown, and tourism businesses re-open, more planned events are taking place.  These are just listings, so please follow links and check with organisers of events before assuming events are running.

The Archdeacon’s Charge is a fun way to raise money for your local church, school or youth group as well as supporting the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

We have been generously invited to enjoy the grounds of Holkham Hall near Wells-next-the-Sea by the Earl and Countess of Leicester.

The event has grown each year and includes a popular craft market (with stalls by local crafters and parishes); live music performances; classic cars; a large family play area and more. Refreshments including bacon butties, cakes and ice cream will be available throughout the day.

This year’s fun run course is 5km long and participants can choose their favoured number of laps. The route for those walking will be around the beautiful lake.

Booking is open: entry is just £5 per adult and under 18’s are free. Parking is also free: our signage will direct you towards the South Lodge entrance (NR23 1RX for Sat Navs). The event runs from 10am until 3pm.

Whether you’re taking part in the run/walk or just visiting for an enjoyable day: book your entry online today to avoid the queues on the day.

The event was founded in 2010 by the Ven John Ashe, Archdeacon of Lynn. The East Anglian Air Ambulance has been very close to Archdeacon John’s heart after they saved his wife’s life following a serious car accident in 2009 when she was airlifted from the crash scene. Since its inception the event has raised over £110,000, half of which has been donated to the Air Ambulance.

Price: £5

Location: Holkham
