Poetry next the Sea

Friday 5 to Sunday 7 May 2017

As the North Norfolk Coast begins to move out of Covid-19 lockdown, and tourism businesses re-open, more planned events are taking place.  These are just listings, so please follow links and check with organisers of events before assuming events are running.

This year’s theme is Beyond Frontiers which will also be the subject for the symposium on Sunday 7th May.

We are delighted to confirm that this year’s artists include:
Sir Jonathan Bate CBE
Dame Gillian Beer
Paula Byrne
Paul Farley
Matthew Hollis
Helen Mort
Katrina Porteous
Michael Symmons Roberts
Katharine Towers
Terry Waite CBE
Peter Zinovieff

We will also be hosting the World Premiere of The Singing Glacier a multi-media presentation with poems by Helen Mort, music composed by William Carslake and performed by The Little Baroque Company, Helen Kruger - violin, Carina Drury - cello, Cait Walker - oboe and Jamie Akersand - theorbo and a film directed by Richard Jones.

Sun, a collaboration between poet Katrina Porteous and composer Peter Zinovieff, explores our nearest star using images from NASA.

A symposium at midday on Sunday 7th will close the festival.

Artist Chloe Steele will exhibit her work inspired by the work of the poets.
